The Hulk and Banner are two separate identities living in the same body, as you could say they have dissociative identity disorder, because they have separate control of their bodies, and the two personalities do not like one another at all. Still, when the situation requires, and the world needs saving, Banner lets his anger out and unleashes the Hulk on his foes, as he did in the Battle of New York against Loki and his foes, he helped defeat Ultron, as well as the cosmic threat of Thanos, from whom together with the Avengers saved the universe!
The Hulk, when he appears, is a huge humanoid monster with green skin, a big frame, and lots of muscles, and he is usually unhinged, sometimes not separating friends from enemies. He is known for his catchphrase 'HULK SMASH', which he uses to hit, kick, punch, and destroy everything around him!
Over the years, he and Banner have come to an agreement and the two personalities learn to live with one another, even fusing in later movies into what is known as Professor Hulk, a Hulk with the body of the monster, and the body of the scientist.
