Use WASD or the ARROWS to drive, and do it on any of the four available modes of gameplay:

One Way, where you only drive ahead, with cars beside you.
Two-Way, where are cars coming from up ahead as well.
Time Attack, where you need to reach checkpoints before the time runs out on you.
Speed Bomb, where you need not get past a certain speed, or your car explodes.

Crashing into the other cars on the highway means instant death and losing, so make sure to avoid it at all costs. In the garage you can then take the money you earn from completing challenges to do modifications to your cars, such as:

car color
wheels
spoilers
customizations to the look and upgrades to the engine
