How to play Sonic Mario Bros

You play it just like you would do most other Mario Games:

run, jump, and reach the end of each level without losing all your lives
defeat the monsters
get the upgrades
avoid the traps
reach the castle where Bowser is holding Princess Peach and rescue her!

The controls are easy!

Use the arrow keys to move, press X to jump, and press Z to shoot.

Get your coins up!

As you run and jump around platforms, collect coins from out in the open to grow your score. Also, hit the bricks with question marks to get the coins inside them as well.

Eat your mushrooms!

Mushrooms are the upgrades of this game, which you should collect:

take the red mushroom to grow bigger
take the green mushroom for an extra life

The fire plant is a special upgrade that allows you to shoot fireballs at enemies. Don't miss it!

Avoid the monsters!

There will be Koopa monsters, turtles, and other kinds of foes along the way. Don't hit into them directly, since direct contact makes you lose a life. Lose all your lives, lose the game.

You can defeat them by jumping on top of their heads and stomping them. You also gain extra points from that.

you can't do that for the man-eating plants that come out of green tunnels - avoid them entirely

Find secret locations!

Through some green pipes, you can enter and reach secret spots where you can gain extra points. Get on top of one, and press down to see if you can enter.
