If you choose the story mode, there are levels you go through, with pauses in between where you can make upgrades to your character, but if you choose the arena mode, there will be one wave of zombie for you to defeat after the other one, with their numbers increasing.

Use the WASD keys to move around the infested cities, use the mouse to aim and shoot the guns, the wheel to change weapons, R to reload, space to run, and shift to jump.

Survive a long time, go through as many of the waves as possible, and be careful not to let yourself be killed by the zombies since that means having to restart again from scratch. Good luck, enjoy, and maybe stick around for more daily games yet to arrive!
