In both the story mode and free play mode, you win by reaching the end of the songs, and this only happens if you help BF play all his notes according to the charts. This means that when you see arrow symbols matching above BF, you will press the identical arrow keys, but if you miss doing it multiple times in a row, you need to start again from scratch.
